One Month of Less: Day 23: Unsubscribe
In my past life, I had my laptop open all day with my email running. Then, I graduated and got what is called "a real job." As far as I can tell, part of what having this real job means is that I am required to take time out of my FREE TIME after work to check my email instead of doing it during the day.
Like a chore.
I get three kinds of emails:
1. Parent emails: rundown of the week, pictures of our cat living the life of luxury with grandma and grandpa, and assorted youtube recommendations. Etcetera.
2. Holly emails: non-puntuated, non-capitalized narratives that are too hilarious to open in a public setting
3. Junk mail
I could do with less of the junk mail and more of the cat narratives. Today I broke down and performed the tedious task of finding the tiny "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of all these junk emails. Walmart, Express, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Gurney's seed company, Bed Bath and Beyond, Urban Outfitters, PetSmart ... and on and on! How did these people all find me?
Less e-clutter!
Here is a picture of Millie. Word has it she wants to live with Grandma and Grandpa forever.
For the month of October I'm doing one thing a day that is a step towards a simpler way of living -- less cluttered, less wasteful, less distracted. My goal through this month of less is that by taking a new step every day, I will be able to live in a way that is more organized, more stewardly, more purposeful. Read more about it here, and let me know if you're joining in!
